Okay! Okay! I swear this is the last inspired by a song I will write... until I find another. Hope you all enjoy. This one has been racing around in my brain for weeks and I am finally doing something about it.

This is for all my pondies, the new ones at 16, and the old ones at 13. This is also for everyone who encourages us on and on.

A Song and a Wish

With a frustrated sigh, Kathryn Janeway flung the covers from her body and left the bed. She couldn't sleep again, and the worst part of it was that there was nothing to keep her awake. Things had been relatively quiet the last few weeks. The ship was performing at optimum efficiency. The crew was cross training in an effort to keep busy. Food supplies and fuel were well stock, and none of the current residents of the Delta Quadrant were interested in a fight. Things were just peachy. So why couldn't she sleep? With another frustrated sigh, she glanced at the chronometer. *0300 hrs. Damn!* Moving to her closet, she shimmied into a soft faded pair of denim blue jeans and an old flannel shirt. With a half smile she glanced in the mirror and decided to run a brush through her hair. *Not that anyone is going to see me like this, but at least I won't look completely rumpled.* Shaking her head at the oddity of Voyager's Captain wandering the halls of the Starship half dressed at 3am, Kathryn slipped on a pair of canvas shoes and headed to the Holodeck.

Kathryn frowned when she realized both Holodecks were in use. *Damn! Guess I'm not the only one who couldn't sleep tonight.* She briefly scanned the occupants and programs. Tom and B'Elanna were the only occupants of Holodeck 1. She thought briefly about joining them, but realized that the privacy lock was engaged. With a quick smile, she focused her attention on the other Holodeck. She grinned when she realized Chakotay was running the other program. She had joined him before, and he her. She started to tap her combadge and ask if he minded, then decided not to. If he objected, she would leave, besides the privacy lock wasn't engaged. She'd surprise him.

Entering the Holodeck, she found herself in a wooded area. The moon was bright overhead and showed clearly a well worn path through the trees. Soft, delicate piano music whispered on the gentle night breeze. For a moment she paused, uncertain. The lull of the music pulled at her and she followed the path to its source.

Kathryn gasped in surprise at the scene before her. Moonlight and starshine glimmered on the water of an iridescent pond. Soft waves lazily caressed the gray stone of the old gazebo built in its center. It reminded her briefly of a castle surrounded by a moat, except the huge octagon surface was built on stone legs, lifting approximately two feet from the surface of the water. An intricate wall wove its way around the edge of the gazebo, forming a three foot lattice of stone. At each of the eight corners a tall column rose to meet a wooden lattice roof the same pale gray as the stone. From the floor of the gazebo, rich dark ivy vied with glorious red roses to tangle up the columns that rose from the floor. Even in the silvery moonlight, the colors appeared bright and alive. After indulging in several moments of awe, Kathryn again followed the path to a stone bridge. The only way across the gap of water into the gazebo. Again the soft strains of piano music fluttered around her. The music was repetitive and soothing. As she approached the gazebo, the soft male voice in song could be heard. Even though she couldn't make out the words, the sentiment behind them pulled at her.

The music ended and then began again as she entered the magical realm. Her eyes focused on the gleaming black piano, and the man at the keyboard. His eyes were closed, his whole being focused on the music surrounding them. Of all the things they had shared, this was something about him that was new, and strangely seductive. She stood frozen as he began to sing, and the words washed over her.

When the rain is blowing in your face, and the whole world is on your case, I would offer you a warm embrace, to make you feel my love.

When the evening shadows and the stars appear and there is no one to dry your tears, I could hold you for a million years, to make you feel my love.

*Oh Gods!* Awareness raced through her as his eyes locked with hers. He never missed a beat.

I know you haven't made your mind up yet, but I would never do you wrong, I've known it from the moment that we met, no doubt in my mind where you belong.

I'd go hungry I'd go black and blue, I'd go crawling down the avenue, No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do to make you feel my love.

Storms are raging on a rolling sea, down the highway of regret, the winds of change are blowing wild and free, but you ain't seen nothing like me yet

Nothing that I wouldn't do, go to the ends of the earth for you, I could make you happy make your dreams come true, to make you feel my love.

Chakotay stood slowly. He watched the play of emotions on face. Softly, the words barely audible, he issued a command to the computer. "Computer, continuos playback, music only. As the melodic strains of the song began to whisper through the room, he moved toward. Almost hesitantly he approached her, afraid that the things he saw in her eyes would disappear and he would be alone once more. Chakotay drew her into his arms, and at her lack of resistance, gave a sigh of relief. He held her, pressed tightly against him, his head nestled by her ear. Softly he began to sing to lyrics once more. He couldn't stop the surge of hope and desire as she snuggled closer, burrowing her face in his chest, her arms stealing around his back.

They stood together, allowing the music to wash over them for a long moment before Kathryn pulled back. "I can't fight this any longer, Chakotay. I love you so." Before he could respond, she pulled his face down to hers and kissed him.

This time he was the one to separate them. He drew back and rested his forehead against hers. "So sweet... I have loved you forever I think. I will love you forever." Again they kissed, his mouth taking possession of hers, tongues dueling in an effort to share and taste and explore. His lips brazed a trail across her cheekbones to her ear and then her throat. "I want you. Let me make love to you, my Kathryn."

"Yes..." The words were stopped as his lips met hers again. He swept her into his arms and carried her to the middle of the room. There he lay he on a quilt. She was slightly startled to find it so available until she glanced up and found him surrounded by moonlight and stars. The gazebo had an open center for stargazing. Her momentary delight at the site was forgotten as he blocked the light with his face and captured her mouth for another kiss.

Slowly his lips traveled down again to the vee of her shirt. He watched her face as he undid the buttons, slowly revealing glimpses of the pale flesh he hungered to see. His shocked eyes met hers as he brushed the shirt aside. His brow raised slightly as his hands covered her naked breast. "Planning an illicit evening, Kathryn?"

She blushed slightly, then grinned. "You know I like to be prepared for any unforseen circumstance." He smile took her breath away. Lightly she trailed her fingers across his dimples. "You need a license for those, you know."

"Gods, I love you!" His impassioned words were followed by another heated kiss. Again his mouth began a trail down her body, stopping momentarily at her breasts to tease and lave each dimpled crest. Eventually, he continued his quest, lapping playfully at her navel, nibbling at her ribs. His hands quickly divested her of her jeans, before he stood and removed his own clothing. "Computer initiate privacy lock, Chakotay 47 Alpha."

Kathryn stared in awe at the gorgeous male body before her. Before she could think, she rose to her knees. Her hands slid up his thighs, cupping his erection, and holding it for her mouth. Chakotay gasped with pleasure as her mouth enclosed him, his fingers tangling in her hair. He was helpless to stop the groans as she worked him. After several moments he pulled free of her. She blinked up at him in surprise. He dropped to his knees before her. As his mouth captured hers again, he tumbled her back to the blanket. "My turn."

He knelt between her spread thighs, his hands lightly caressing the sensitive skin at the junction. With a possessive male smile, his mouth replaced his hands. He teasingly nibbled and toyed with the tender nub of flesh until she writhed beneath him. Her soft gasps and whispered pleas spurring him on. At the telltale tightening of her body, he slid his way back up, kissing and caressing until he again reached her mouth. As his lips joined with hers, so did his body. The two lovers moving joyously together toward release.

Four Months Later

Damned if he wasn't running late. The meeting with B'Elanna had run over, and now he was late for dinner. He and Kathryn met every night possible for dinner, usually in the messhall. As he entered the turbolift, he checked the time again. "Damn!" He was almost forty minutes late. Just as he reached for his combadge, her heard her voice.

"Janeway to Chakotay"

"Yes, Captain"

"I need you to report to Holodeck 2 immediately."

"Is there a problem?"

"Nothing you can't handle, Commander. Janeway out."

*Great, now what?* He scowled. He had hoped to be able to spend the rest of the evening with her, now there was something else to interrupt his plans. Growling in frustration, he entered Holodeck 2. Chakotay stopped in astonishment as he recognized the program running. His heart began to beat in anticipation as the delicate melody echoed through the trees. Grinning, he raced down the path and across the bridge. He froze again, as the vision before him stole his breath. Kathryn stood before him dressed only in moonlight and starshine. As she walked towards him, he silently thanked the Spirits of his Ancestors and all the Gods in the heavens for her love.

"Computer, initiate privacy lock, Janeway 627 Gamma."
