Behind the scenes Pixels
Completed: 6/05
Here we are again. Thanks of course for visiting. I do recommend you read the story before tagging the behind the scenes as here be spoilers for the story. First things first after all.
Why Pixels?
A pixel is a fragment of a picture that helps to define the whole. With Pixels, our goal was to take the Pixie series from where it was to where it is going. Didn't you know? The Pixie you have known and loved is growing and evolving. There are at least two stories in the works set after this one. Why you ask? Because we can.
When I first read Dee's story T'Lin, my first thought was 'this has so much potential.’ Obviously the readers agree as we have had fantastic feedback and encouragement on these stories. And I have to say sometimes that’s all that keeps us writing. With Dee's magic in inspiring me to write, Monsters Revisited was born, along with the character of Zack Henry Archer. One day, wanting a break from MR, I wrote a cheeky little what if piece dealing with an adult T'Lin and Dee fell in love with it. That little piece spawned the demon muses in both of us and created a flurry of ideas and new characters.
But how do we get from our precious toddler to an adult?
It was as we were tossing these ideas back and forth, and developing sequences of events, that a timeline was actually outlined and developed. It was also during this time frame that Corvette Lead wrote two pieces that inspired us even more. While we weren't certain how they would fit in the overall scheme of things, we liked the stories and asked Corvette to give us a hand.
However, here we sat with an idea for our adult characters, while working on one for our younger ones and there was this huge gap. I knew I wanted an age that was very impressionable, because despite how much we love our naive little Pixie, she couldn't possibly stay that way. I couldn't foresee a change or situation that would help us bridge the gap, so we worked on wrapping up Monsters Revisited. With MR complete, Dee and I threw ourselves into Crossing Lines, the adult story. It was during this time that the idea for Pixels was born.
The general premise of Pixels is to emphasize the changes in the Archer children and what helps them develop into the people they will be. We also wanted to use this story to introduce some very important characters and to give background on the Satorians, who are going to play a major part in the upcoming story.
Pixels has taken nearly two years to write do to lost pieces and general writers block. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we have.

This piece actually helped with several sequences for the end. I had originally written a completely different scene for T’Pol when it hits her that her children are coming home; it was also inspirational for Jonathan seeing the children again. This song just seems to exemplify the words I wanted to write. Unfortunately the original was lost, but I’m hoping what made the final cut still has the impact I wanted.
Special thanks go out to Dee for her unending encouragement. Without her I seriously doubt Pixels would have been finished. I also want to thank Alyson for begging more more more, and for writing Magic, which helped me to remember why I was writing the story to begin with. Also big thanks to the CAVe for continued encouragement and support, You guys ROCK!
And most important, a great big bless you and thanks to the best beta in existence, Monica. Without her, I doubt this would have been finished. And a big hug and thanks to Mana, for being such a wonderful sounding board.
If you would like to see the Pixie saga continue, please let me know. Writing secondary characters is not always something people enjoy, and while I love doing it, I don’t see much point if you folks aren’t interested in reading.
Hugs and smilies to all, and thanks again for the support.
