MINE! MINE! MINE! Yeah right. Now that that's over with, standard disclaimer's apply.
Paramount owns it all. These guys are just visiting me and playing in my backyard for a while.
They'll go home eventually.
Alright, I've been a bit serious with these things so I decided to go a little lite. Actually, I heard
this song, and it reminded me of our favorite duo and the steps they dance around each other.
Song from the soundtrack HAPPY NOWHERE, by Dog's Eye View. Written by Peter Stuart.
Here we go again with your hair in your face,
my head in my hands hoping to find something that
we've never known. Looking like two little kids with our wide eyes and slow
tenderness,
asking the same things that we always do And when were feeling we've been cheated out of something we deserve...
then these small
wonders
keep us awake at night
... these small wonders
Hold us down to the ground
and show us who we are
Wonders

Another party to suffer through. I sit here with B'Elanna, Tom, Harry and Seven, pretending to
listen and join in the conversation, but as always, I'm watching her. She works the room. Her
attention to detail amazes me. So lovely, so animated, so relaxed. The Captain, and yet, I can
see Kathryn shining through. Perhaps its the slightly curled hair about her face, or that sexy
black dress she's wearing. Where it came from, I don't know, but I hope she has more like it. It's
dazzling. I can't hide my smile as she heads this way.
Kathryn
I hate these things sometimes. Wander the room, make nice to everyone, chatter inanely about
nothing. It's not that I don't care, its just not where I want to be, today. Something came over
me this evening as I go ready. I knew he was going to be there, and I wanted to impress him.
Not that anything can come of it, but I wanted to anyway. I replicated the simple black dress,
mid thigh with a sweetheart neckline and low cut in the back. It's much more daring then I
usually wear, but its still conservative. He appreciates it, I can see it in his eyes. They've been
following me all evening. He smiles as I approach and sit down.
Chakotay
She's barely spoken to me since she took a seat, but I catch the glances. They're discrete,
sideways glances, out of the corner of her eye. It's a game, pretend you're not interested. She's
played it before. Something's different tonight. "Kathryn, dance with me?" I stand and offer my
hand. She smiles and agrees.
Walking side by side with our fear and our hope
and our love and our pride. Two steps forward and no looking back. Every chance to fall through
and its one look and the world becomes you,
one touch and you know we're on our way When were feeling we've been wasted
by too much time inside Then these small wonders
keep us awake at night and these small wonders
hold us down to the ground
and show us who we are
Kathryn
Sweet stars but he's warm, and solid. I can't help myself. I lean into him as the slow steady
rhythm swirls around me. He smells so good. Like soap and man. I wonder what he do if I let
my hands slide down his back. I settle for snuggling closer. I can dream, even if I can't act.
Chakotay
She's so close, I don't think air could get between us. I desperately want to kiss her. I settle for
tucking her head under my chin. I don't want to think, just imagine that she is mine and that the
natural conclusion to this seductive dance will be reached. She is my world, and I don't know
how much longer I can hide it.
Kathryn
I don't want to think about what we look like here. Practically making love on the dance floor.
Reality slips in just a little. I'm teasing him, it isn't right. I shouldn't do this, but he feels so
good. I lean back to tell him, to break contact, reestablish protocol (Gods I hate that word). The
look in his eyes. The love in his eyes, the devotion. Its too much. I can't help myself. I pull him
down and brush his lips with mine.
Chakotay
She kissed me! Thank you my love! Such a gift. I pull back a bit just to study her eyes. There
is no uncertainty there. She knows what she has done and she looks sure. I pull her tighter to
me, my mouth capturing hers, our tongues dueling. The ending of the night is no longer a
thought. She is mine, I can wait, but for now I'll hold her.
And just when we know we've heard it all before the world comes screaming through our door
Kathryn
I can't believe they're clapping. I'll kill them for interrupting so wonderful a moment. Chakotay
just smiles and kisses me again. To hell with protocol. I have what I want, and he's holding me
in his arms.
These small wonders, Here we go again with your hair in my face and your head in my hands (my clumsy hands)
